Two Days workshop on “IOT and Machine Learning”

The workshop was inaugurated on 9 A.M. in hall 141 of ADIT. Programme was started with Maa Saraswati vandana followed by Principal ADIT Dr. R. K. Jain motivating speech on workshop theme.Dr Kalpesh Chudasama workshop coordinator briefly explain the importance of IoT and Machine Learning in engineering field and about coverage of different session in two days of workshop. Dr. Narendra Chauhan delivered expert talk on basics of Machine Learning and cover few important supervised algorithms like SVM, Decision tree etc. Dr. Kalpesh Chudasama delivered expert talk on Artificial Neural Network: Perceptron to Multilayer Perceptron Neural Network (MLPNN). He covered following things in his lecture: Brief History of ANN, Comparison of Biological and Artificial Neural network, Concepts and importance of weight and bias in neural network, Single layer to multilayer feedforward network formation, Transfer functions used in ANN, When to use ANN?, Advantages and Applications of ANN and ANN algorithms briefly Dr. Minal Patel delivered his talk on IoT basics and also demonstrates how to use APP lacunar in IoT. Dr. N. K. Chavda in afternoon session delivered expert talk on Genetic Algorithm basics and its applications in machine learning. Dr. Kalpesh Chudasama demonstrates ANN applications in classification and function approximation in his second lecture of Artificial Neural Network after lunch session. Dr Heen Kher delivered expert talk on deep learning using CNN. Deep learning is a type of machine learning in which a model learns to perform classification tasks directly from images, text, or sound. It is usually implemented using neural network architecture. The term “deep” refers to the number of layers in the network—the more layers, the deeper the network. Traditional neural networks contain only 2 or 3 layers, while deep networks can have hundreds. A Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) is one of the most popular algorithms for deep learning with images and video. Deep learning often requires hundreds of thousands or millions of images for the best results. It’s also computationally intensive and requires a high-performance GPU. She has explained the application of CNN with case study of face recognition in her lecture.

On day 2, Internet of Things has a huge role to play in improving human lives and economy by building smart applications. Dr. Vijay Ukani, Associate Professor Nirma Institute of Technology conducted morning session. He delivered talk on Internet of Things. IoT application development using standard protocols and mechanisms is very important for efficient and effective use of resources. The session on IoT application development focused on application building using standard protocols. Many applications were built on ESP8266 NodeMCU and demonstrated during the session. Mr Yaser Arafat from Designtech, Pune covers two sessions on IoT and Machine Learning using MATLAB after lunch.
